What Is Rahu Kaal?
Rahu Kaal, also written as Rahu Kalam, is a daily period used in traditional Hindu astrology. Some people avoid starting important new activities during this period. It is a calendar convention rather than a scientific prediction of what will happen. Rahu Kaal Today depends on the selected location and date: Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata need not share the same clock times. Routine responsibilities and necessary care should not be postponed because of a timing label.
Rahu Kaal Today in My Location
Choose your city, enter the day, month and year, then select Calculate. One selection updates all seven timing categories on this page. Rahu Kaal appears first; the other six results remain visible in their own cards below. You do not need to open a small arrow to read them. This version uses the coordinates of the city you choose; it does not request precise device location. Check the city and date printed beside the results before using them.
How Is Rahu Kaal Calculated?
Rahu Kaal is found by dividing local daylight, from sunrise to sunset, into eight equal intervals. The assigned interval is Sunday 8, Monday 2, Tuesday 7, Wednesday 5, Thursday 6, Friday 4 and Saturday 3. The solar calculation uses the selected city’s coordinates and a standard horizon model. Times are estimates displayed to the nearest minute. Terrain, altitude, atmospheric conditions and different calendar conventions can cause differences from another published timetable.
Rahu Kaal Today by City
The city table below uses the same selected date as the main calculator. It compares Rahu Kaal across the 30 supported Indian cities, including Delhi, New Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. Choose a different city in the form to calculate all seven categories there. Nearby cities can sometimes display the same rounded minute, even though their underlying sunrise and sunset times differ. A timetable for one city should not automatically be treated as the timetable for all of India.

Rahu Kaal for Each Day of the Week
Rahu Kaal is calculated on every weekday, including Saturday and Sunday. A printed chart that assumes sunrise at 6:00 AM and sunset at 6:00 PM is only an illustration. Real daylight is not always twelve hours, so neither the start time nor the duration is permanently fixed. Change the date to check tomorrow or another day; the calculator uses that date’s weekday automatically.
What Is Traditionally Avoided During Rahu Kaal?
According to traditional Hindu astrological practice, some people avoid beginning a new venture, signing an important agreement or starting an auspicious ceremony during Rahu Kaal. Customs vary between families, regions and traditions. These labels describe those practices; they are not guarantees of good or bad outcomes. A calendar window alone does not establish a suitable time for every ceremony or personal situation, and the seven categories can overlap.
Why This Tool Shows More Than Rahu Kaal
Alongside Rahu Kaal, this page calculates Yamagandam, Gulika Kaal, Abhijit Muhurat, Brahma Muhurta, Dur Muhurtam and Amrit Kaal. These are seven categories, not seven equal divisions of the day. Brahma Muhurta uses the night before the chosen sunrise. Dur Muhurtam can contain a daytime and a nighttime period. Amrit Kaal uses the Moon’s nakshatra and the sunrise-to-next-sunrise calendar day. Any next-day time is labelled with its date. A category may have no applicable period; an explanation then replaces the time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Rahu Kaal the same every day?
No. The weekday selects the daylight interval, while local sunrise and sunset determine its clock times.
Is Rahu Kaal the same in every city?
No. Different coordinates affect solar times. All results here are shown in Indian Standard Time, even when you visit from abroad.
How long is Rahu Kaal?
It lasts one eighth of local daylight. It is not always exactly ninety minutes.
Can I check Rahu Kaal for tomorrow?
Yes. Enter tomorrow’s date and select Calculate. The city table and all seven result cards update together.
Does Rahu Kaal also apply on weekends?
Yes. Saturday uses the third daylight interval and Sunday the eighth. Both are calculated from that city’s sunrise and sunset.
Why can a timing be unavailable?
This calculator does not mark Abhijit Muhurat as auspicious on Wednesday. Amrit Kaal may have no interval overlapping the selected sunrise-to-next-sunrise day. Neither situation is a reason to invent a time.
